When buying 1081 Bathurst it was found it to be full of what could be described as junk. Instead of calling in people to “get rid of it “ it was decided to use it to either renovate the gallery or make Art with it. It took 8 months to convert the myriad of debris into what you see before you. During this process, we explored modern themes such as copying paintings changing them and then presenting them in a completely different context. In a sense, this is much the same process as what we did with the junk, finding previously cut pieces, the forms that followed, were inevitably dictated by the original, yet the end results turned out radically different.

On the whole I find this to be an inspiring mind set, since our consumerist culture has created so much junk. By looking at this junk as a commodity to be redesigned, we are enriching ourselves as well as cleaning up.
